The Enquiry

We were excited to receive an enquiry for a large new build project in Ramsden, near Witney in Autumn 2015. This was a big installation and the customer had a very clear idea about what he was looking for – a profile in a light grey.
The property was set on a lovely rural plot in the charming village of Ramsden in West Oxfordshire and the installation included 28 windows with Astragal bar, 4 composite doors, 3 French doors, a sliding Patio door and an Orangery roof.

It was a big investment for the customer and he wanted to be sure that he was choosing the right company for the job. We referred him to some of our other local installations so that he could go and take a look at the quality of our work.  We also referred the customer to our Checkatrade page to see the reviews left by previous customers who are asked to score us out of 10 for Reliability and Timekeeping, Tidiness, Courtesy and Workmanship.  Finally, we liaised with our supplier and arranged for the customer to visit their premises to see how the windows and doors would be made.

The Order

We were delighted to get the go ahead for the windows and doors in Agate Grey outside and white inside in the Halo profile.

Working conditions weren’t always easy and, as you might expect with the builders on site, the area around the property was extremely muddy. As the build progressed we were in regular contact with the builder over order of works and access, aiming to carry out the work in way that fitted in with their work.

The first windows were fitted on the days between Christmas and New Year. Then as 2016 arrived we returned to trim the windows for a perfect finish and to fit the remaining windows including square bays and beautiful feature arched window. We then began installing the doors – there were 3 composite doors, and French and sliding Patio doors with brushed chrome hardware.

Winter Weather

Being mid-winter there were challenges with the weather. Rain is an occupational hazard for our fitters and a touch of frost and ice doesn’t bother them but high winds are a challenge so the schedule had to be readjusted from time to time to accommodate our great British climate!

The roof lantern for the Orangery was fitted in February and then when the builders had completed the groundworks we returned to finish the trimming the downstairs windows, once the risk of dust and dirt had passed. A view of the build.

A hugely satisfying installation for us and we hope you’ll agree that the photographs show the Agate grey offset beautifully against the golden Cotswold stone.
